HOSTS NEEDED FOR HUNGARIAN CHOIR TOUR
The Aurin Girls’ Choir from the Kodály Music School, Kecskemét, Hungary will be making their 5th tour to the UK in June/July 2008.
This choir is one of the leading girls’ choirs in Europe; in 2006 they won two gold medals at the World Choir Games in China where they represented Hungary. They have won first prizes at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod and in Germany, Italy, Denmark and Hungary, as well as many other accolades in music festivals across Europe.
On previous visits to the UK they have given successful concerts in cathedrals, churches and schools, in Scotland, Yorkshire, Liverpool and many other places across the country. They have also given workshops in a number of schools, colleges and universities demonstrating the Kodály method of music teaching and the highly intensive choral training they receive. Under the direction of their young conductor, László Durányik, the choir has provided an extremely stimulating and enjoyable experience on their previous tours.
At present I am looking for some new hosts schools, colleges, church or community groups who might be interested in hosting the choir in 2008. (46 girls, ages 15 – 19 approx, and 5 – 6 staff) This would include providing hospitality (beds etc) for the choir for one or more nights and they would give concerts/workshops etc as outlined above. I would also like to hear from anyone who has hosted them on previous occasions and would like to have them again.
Please contact Barbara Jenkinson 01749 812708 or by email
b.jenkinson@ukonline.co.uk for more details and informal discussion.

WANTED: Help for the Education Sub-Committee,
to research and book venues for short courses in different parts of the
country. This is a very important task, as the BKA needs to keep in mind the
question of access, as well as transport connections, suitability and value
for money!! It is also vital that BKA courses do reach the parts other
courses do not reach! At present there are only a few such courses each
year, but a database of possibilities would also be invaluable.
If you would like to help in this way, please get in touch in the first
instance with Celia Cviic, 0208 946 6528, or email: celiacviic@btinternet.com
