Welcome

The work of Zoltán Kodály and his pupils in Hungary resulted in a dynamic process of music education, which has deep relevance for music training and school teaching in Britain today.

The Summer School courses include training in musicianship, classroom teaching, conducting, choral singing, and in some years, the application of the Kodály concept to instrumental tuition. It provides a perfect introduction to all aspects of teaching and learning music. Tuition is given by leading experts in the field of music education from Britain and Hungary.

The Summer School is open to anyone interested in developing their own musical capability and, if a teacher, in using Kodály-related ideas in their teaching. Classes are available for the complete beginner (for example, students with no formal music training) through to professional musicians and teachers who are looking for new insights to further their expertise in using the Kodály Approach.

Two courses of study will be available at the Summer School in 2010 – a general study programme open to all or the new Springboard Certificate programme. The programmes will overlap in the morning sessions which are reserved for musicianship using relative solfa, vocal warm-ups and choral activities.
